These terms and conditions are applicable to all guests at Backyard Village and travel agencies as a third party. The terms also apply to bookings made on our website www.backyard.is, and for bookings made via e-mail, on location, through travel agencies or booking engines. When guests make their reservations, they agree with these terms and conditions.
In the room (cottage) rates of Backyard Village, service charge and tax are included. The tax can be changed due to governmental amendment without prior notice. Prices are subject to change due to currency fluctuations, economic changes or excess inflation or other items out of Backyard Village control. Rate changes never apply to bookings already paid and confirmed by Backyard Village. As of January 2024 the fixed room tax per night are ISK 600 and the VAT (Value Added Tax) is 11%.
Also included in the rates are the use of the laundry house, sauna and hot tub.
Rates are quoted in the respective currency of each booking engine and reflect the current exchange rate at the time of booking.
Room reservation is only guaranteed on the condition of receipt of payment. Upon reservation, credit card will be charged for the amount indicated on the booking confirmation page and email.
Cancellations made more than seven (7) days prior to the date of arrival will be refunded 100%. Cancellations made within four (4) to seven (7) days prior to the date of arrival will incur a 50% charge. Cancellations made within three (3) days prior to the arrival date will incur a 100% charge and no refund. There are no refunds for early checkouts and “no shows”. If the number of guests on your reservation is reduced once the reservation is paid it is up to Backyard Village to determine applicable refunds or penalties. To cancel the booking, call us at +354-771-8876 and have on hand the following information ready: Complete name of the traveler, date of arrival, date of booking. If you prefer, email your cancellation request to backyard@backyard.is with the above-mentioned information and the reason for the cancellation. It is advisable to ensure that your travel insurance covers you in case of loss, due to cancellation. This policy overrides the booking engines’ policies that cannot accommodate our requirements.
Check-in is at 15:00 hours (3pm). Check out time is at 11:00 hours (11am), unless otherwise requested.
Using the sauna and hot tub is the responsibility of our guests. Guests with a heart condition, high blood pressure, respiratory problems or any other condition that might ail our guests, should not use the sauna or hot tub. Children should not use the sauna or hot tub unless they’re accompanied by their parents/guardians.
Guests under the heavy influence (visibly or behaviorally) of drugs and/or alcohol are not allowed to use the sauna or hot tub. Use of glass receptacles is not allowed in the sauna or hot tub. Guests violating these rules are subjected to a fine(s) and the amount will be determined by Backyard Village.
Rowdy behavior and/or disturbing our neighbors’ peace will not be tolerated and such behavior is subject to a fine and the amount will be determined by Backyard Village. Please party responsibly as we are all neighbors.
Backyard Village cannot be held accountable for slippery or icy conditions. It’s the guests’ responsibility to tread carefully and respect the conditions due to the weather.
Smoke alarms are installed in the cottages and laundry house. 2 in each cottage and 1 in the laundry house. Fire extinguishers are also in each cottage and laundry house as well as fire blankets and small First Aid Kits. It is the responsibility of the guests to acquaint themselves with the use of the fire extinguishers and fire blankets.
“112” is the single emergency number in Iceland, representing all the response parties to accidents, fire, crime, search, rescue and natural disasters on land, at sea, or in the air. Additionally, Iceland‘s child protection officers can be reached through 112. The emergency dispatchers are on duty around-the-clock, all year around. When you dial 112, they respond at once and immediately send the appropriate assistance. The role of Emergency Alert 112 is to provide a friendly, efficient and reliable service. 112 can be reached anywhere in Iceland, from any telephone, by voice or by SMS (Text Message). Smoking is not allowed at Backyard Village
Force Majeure. Not withstanding anything else here in contained to the country, Backyard Village cannot be held liable for delays, incidents or cancellations that are caused by events that are beyond Backyard Village’s reasonable control.
Backyard Village cannot be held responsible for the loss or theft of your personal belongings.
Backyard Village assumes no liability for loss of or damage to motor vehicles parked in front of our property, nor its contents.
These terms and conditions and any dispute or claims arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed and construed by the laws of Iceland. The parties irrevocably agree that the courts of Iceland shall have jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with these terms and conditions or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
